Sarahs father is the famous stallion Roivenno, from the stud farm Hacienda el Bosque. We trained Sarah since being a filly with the adult horses. She was never seperated from her mother and lived as a filly to the very day with the herd. We hate fillies to be seperated from their moms, not only because the young animals don’t learn social behaviour, but also because the seperation from their “kids” sadens the mares and just doesn’t fit to the natural way of life. We are absolutely convinced, that Natural Horsemanship starts with an animal-loving keeping, just as the horses would experience it in free nature. Horses are team-players and we promote this, however we can

This painting was created by Silvia Castano, an Argentinian artist, who painted Sarah at the age of 2 months on “Sarah’s” first excursion into Andes with water colours.
Sarah at the age of six months. Her name has its origin in the lenguage of the bedouins, a memory of my journeys through the desert Sahara. The bedouins have a term in their language called: ASMA – Deep, calm patience! I learned to find this inner calmness there. This is extremely important with Natural Horsemanship training, because it’s the basis of our understanding of horses. We know, that first we have to understand the animals, before they will understand our wishes. All our foals take part at our every-day-life, no matter if we are saddeling, shoeing, training or having excursions with their adult fellows. Horses learn enormously much from seeing, viewing, observing. Criollos are horses, which are very secure in their steps. No matter if we ride through the Andes during the day or on moonlight-rides under the starry sky, they are first-class and reliable partners. On horseback rides, hiking rides or short excursions, the horses perform extremely well and securely, due to their absolutely relaxed manner!

Sarah’s mother, Chupilca has an enormous trust in the human being. Actually, she’s a riding horse. In the past, I never had experiences with ploughing, driving a coach or loading baggage on a horse, which is a pack-horse then. I learned all this by myself. Together with Chupilca, I experienced all steps of learning . Today this mare is performing every work: riding, ploughing, the pull a coach, to be a pack-horse. I very much enjoyed learning these things and apart from gathering all these experiences, it shows, how extremely intelligent horses are. We humans, living a hectic and stressful life, judge animals far too often negatively.
Sarah, at the age of 3 years and 4 months on this photo. Until now, I don’t ride her seriously, because we use horses for our horseback riding tours from 5 years, the earliest. But it’s good for them, to have short rides, like 10 minutes, to get them used to the saddel and the rider.
For centuries, Criollos have been the best friends of the Gauchos, the Southamerican cowboys. Without horses, non of the latter zivilisations would have flourished. Such thoughts should evoke awe, respect and love for horses in every human being!

Criollos are the best ”friend” of the Gaucho, or so called Huaso in Chile.
For riding vacations in Chile does horses are great partners to discover the hilean Andes!
